Dan is a Licensed Professional Counselor as recognized by the Texas Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. He holds a Master of Education, Counseling degree from the University of Houston. He is a certified Prepare/Enrich marriage facilitator, has pursued additional education in Sexual Addiction Therapy, and has spent time training for Step Family Therapy with several of the leading researchers in the nation. He is an active member of the American Counseling Association, American Association of Christian Counselors, and Christian Association for Psychological Studies. Dan is a therapist, speaker, founder and owner of REID Counseling Group PLLC.
Dan is known for his work with couples, whether in first marriages or re-married in step-families, and recognizes the complex issues these relationships may present. Working often with these dynamics, Dan has the ability to communicate difficult concepts in easy to understand precepts and principles. This works well with marriages in crisis providing clear insight, appropriate options, and a vision that encourages forward momentum.
His training, study, and life experience has enabled Dan to become an expert in step-family dynamics. The divorce statistics for second marriages, especially complex families where both bring biological children to the new marriage, have over 70% failure rate. Dan’s passion is to see couples beat these odds by recognizing the uniqueness of the step-family system and then retraining to handle the expectations, conflict, and ambiguity inherent in these difficult, multilayered families.
Prior to licensure, Dan worked 16 years in ministry where he had the opportunity to counsel and coach couples, individuals, adolescents, families and groups. He encountered people with a variety of hurts and needs including, spiritual issues and direction, substance abuse, sexual addiction, depression, anxiety, grief management, and relationship centered issues. He received his professional license in 2008. Dan has spent nearly 20 years working directly with people of all ages, and in all stages of life, providing insight, guidance, and hope.
Robin is a Licensed Professional Counselor as recognized by the Texas Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. She holds a Master of Education-Counseling degree from the University of Houston-Victoria. She is a National Certified Counselor, and an Advanced Certified Trauma & Resilience Practitioner. She is an active member of the American Counseling Association, American School Counseling Association, and Texas Counseling Association. REID Counseling Group PLLC.
Her training, study, and life experience as an educator and high school school counselor has enabled Robin to become an expert in adolescents and their unique challenges. In the stage of life which answers the question, “Who Am I?” addressing self-worth and self-esteem, confidence, and discovering personal strengths are keys to navigating this important time in life. Robin’s passion is helping adolescents deal with issues from depression and anxiety to family conflicts and relationships.
Working with women is another passion for Robin. Finding and nurturing one’s authentic self is a life-changing journey, including strengthening the all-important relationship with oneself. Whether the client desires a spiritually-based journey or not, Robin helps women navigate the multidimensional aspects of being a woman in today’s world, while exploring the effects of family of origin, moving towards the goal of emotional wellness.
